Most Dangerous Areas In Tally At Night

Most Dangerous Areas In Tally At Night

Hey friends,

Are you looking to move to Tallahassee soon for school? Or are you looking to move into a different neighborhood? Maybe you just want to know what areas to avoid when you’re out at night. In any case, this crime map of Tallahassee made by areavibes.com lets you know what’s up when it comes to crime in the area. What do we mean by dangerous? Well if you didn’t know, Tallahassee ranks among the 95th percentile for most dangerous US cities, with a 107% higher crime rate than the national average. That’s insane! To put this all into some sort of prospective, have a 1 in 18 chance of being a victim of any crime. Of course, this could be anything from petty theft to murder. Speaking of which, did you know that there are 8.8 murders on avg in Tally per 100,000 people? When looking at the map below, just know that the darker the blue, the more crimes there are!

If you’re new to the area and aren’t sure how to place things, we’re here to help. I’ll break down a few of the darker blue areas below. Also, while this map gives you an idea of where crimes occur, be aware that crime can happen anywhere and you should always be careful. Tell a friend where you’re going, lock your car doors, and if anything feels off, leave immediately and call someone.

If you’re looking at the ginormous dark blue blob to the left (west), at the very center of it you will find Tallahassee Community College. South of that you’ll find lots of municipal buildings such as the DMV and the ever-so-welcoming Leon County Jail. Cancun’s Sports Bar & Grille is likely the only recognizable place in that area where you can have fun. Want to live life a little dangerously? That dark blue mass in the middle includes a bit of FSU, but mainly centers Monroe street. There are SO many good restaurants in that general area, including Masa, Midtown Caboose, and Sakura. You can find their happy hours on our homepage. While we wouldn’t recommend avoiding it, just be wary of your surroundings when walking to your car at night!  This area also includes most of downtown (Andrew’s, Capitol Building, Cascades Park) & spans even further down to Orange & Magnolia St. Residents usually refer to this area as the “Southside” and is known as one of the most dangerous areas in Tallahassee. While there’s a ton of fun to be had in these areas, make use of a buddy system to avoid being a target!

Now if you look to the right, you’ll also see another dark blue polygon of fun! That area along Appalachee Pkwy is home to Governor’s Square Mall, Target, and sadly, a Chick-Fil-A. You’ll definitely end up with a reason or two to have to come to this commercial area, so just bring some mace.

We all know what you’re thinking. Where’s Frenchtown on this map?! Surprisingly, they are an up and coming area now and they aren’t dark blue anymore! We’re not saying to walk around there at 2:00 am (please don’t), but know it’s not as bad as a few years back. We hope this crime map helps you know where NOT to go at night! The world is a scary place and there are dangerous areas in every city. The point of this article is for you to always be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are.
