Music of Resistance – University Symphony Orchestra

The University Symphony Orchestra, one of the premier ensembles in the Florida State University College of Music, performs on Sunday, October 13 at 3:00 pm in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Titled “Music of Resistance,” this concert is inspired by Violins of Hope, a book by James A. Grymes that is a stirring testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of music. This concert is presented in partnership with the Holocaust Education Recourse Council (HERC).

The program includes:

* Pavel Haas: String Study

* Mieczysław Weinberg: Cello Concerto – Greg Sauer, soloist

* Bohuslav Martinů: Memorial to Lidice

* Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 9
